As the premiere resort destination in Cooperstown, New York, The Otesaga was a bastion of history and tradition. In addition to the Hotel, the property includes a golf course consistently ranked as one of the best in the state, a formal restaurant, two casual restaurants and three bars, as well as departments for weddings, corporate meetings and on-site and off-site catering. As the Hotel was updating its somewhat dated decor (which had gotten negative reviews on social travel sites), it also sought to update its communications and advertising.
The Otesaga had done its homework and knew its core audiences inside-out. Amplifying the hotel’s message, and getting the word out about the design refresh was all about implementation – and lots of it. We scoured everything from catering menus to bar coasters to Do Not Disturb door-hangers looking for ways to communicate fresh, lakeside luxury without a trace of stodginess. The results included regular web banner ads, fresh content and design for guest materials of all kinds, a magazine-style wedding lookbook and brochure, sub-branding for the property’s new Glimmerglass restaurant and Fire Bar, and even names of Valentine’s Day cocktails.
